Fashion and the pandemic: a look at the future of fashion

We Ar Magazine interviewed Regina Bertipaglia, owner of Nastrificio Victor SpA, on the occasion of the round table entitled “The Future of Fashion”.

“As we begin to look at life post Covid-19, how do you think the fashion industry will change? How do you anticipate the supply and demand chain and customer management to alter? And what will it take for brands / retailers to recover their losses?”

“The pandemic accelerated the movement towards sustainable fashion that was already under way, which was met with the response of consumers who embraced a concept of “ethics” rather than “style” during periods of crisis. It has also been seen that digitisation processes cannot be delayed, as they will play an increasingly key role.

Sustainability and digitalisation therefore represent the way to escape market turbulence unscathed, and strengthened by added values.

This must be taken into account in the reorganisation of the post-pandemic fashion industry. We must seize the opportunity to develop ourselves with new strategies and reaffirm our commitment to an increasingly green fashion future, which includes a review of its seasonal organisation”.

Wide World

Wide World

We are proud to be able to say that Nastrificio Victor’s products are known worldwide, thanks to a network of agents who present our products to customers with collections at least twice per year. The company boasts a commercial office with very attentive staff, to advise each customer. We do this not only with Italian customers, but also with customers from all over the world. Munich Fabric Start is an opportunity to meet our customers and show them our new collections and trends, during which we offer the opportunity to select samples from which to gain inspiration for their new collections.

Research and development

Research and Development

Research is very important for us. Nastrificio Victor is always attentive in offering new trends to its customers. Every season, we create one specific catalogue for sportswear, and another specific for classic/contemporary clothing.

Metamerism

Metamerism

Two colours can appear the same under one type of light, while different under another. This effect is called metamorphism. It may have happened many times to you, in buying two items, such as a t-shirt and a jacket, thinking: “I bought items that match”. Going out, however, we realise that the jacket and t-shirt have colours that no longer match, and are completely different from what was previously seen. It is very important to offer our customers non-metameric colours and swatches. So, what did we decide to do? To check the samples received by our suppliers with the light chamber, and read the colour objectively, therefore with numbers, through the use of a 0-45° bench spectrophotometer. These numbers can be given to a dye company in order to reproduce the colour to match the customer’s sample as closely as possible.

Personalization

Personalization

We offer our customers the ability to customise the items they choose. We use trusted external collaborators to make the simplest of prints to slightly more complex things, with continuously evolving application techniques.

Spectrophotometer

Spectrophotometer

When an order arrives from a customer, one of the first things we do is determine if the colour chosen is close to one in our portfolio, or if it is necessary to use an external dye company. We are able to adjust the colour with the use of a 0-45° benchtop spectrophotometer, so that it most closely matches the customer’s selection.

Color Digital

Color Digital

In 2020, Nastrificio Victor started a fruitful collaboration with Colour Digital, a German company founded in Cologne in 2013, which is a pioneer in the communication of colours and surfaces. Thanks to Colour Digital, we were able to digitise both our colour chart and finished product, in order to offer our customers a 3D design of their garments directly in the cloud. They can access our libraries for colours or samples, and apply them in real time: this reduces the circulation of physical samples, also reducing their environmental impact.

Safety

Safety

Our worker safety and health management system and environmental management system have been assessed and deemed compliant by the certification body Bureau Veritas. We have obtained the18001 safety certification and 14001 environmental certification.

Trendbook

Trendbook

We create Trendbooks each year, one of which is called Contemporary, which primarily features more contemporary, classic and Ready-to-Wear clothing, while the other, Sport, contains athletic and technical clothing. These trendbooks are initially prepared through trend research: we analyse the colours, materials, and what will become the theme of the next season. Once the graphic part is ready, the ribbons from the latest collections are applied. Then they are delivered to our main agents, who take them around the world to show to customers. Spring/Summer 2022 will be a very colourful season, especially as regards sportswear. One of the main new features in these two collections is the recycled fibre ribbons, along with polyester and nylon. Another novelty is seen in ribbons with aglets, which are used as shoelace tips. In addition are tracked ribbons. One of our specialities are jacquard ribbons, which we have always presented in all of our collections. They can make any kind of brand, logo or type of design readable. Those interested in obtaining more information about our ribbons or making an appointment with an agent can visit Victor.it, and contact the agent in your area to view the spring/summer 2022 collection.

Sales Network

Sales Network

We are proud to be able to say that our products are present all over the world.
This is thanks to an efficient external and internal sales network. Social media is also an up-to-date way to share our trends, which is much appreciated by the new generation of stylists.
