Metamerism
Metamerism
Two colours can appear the same under one type of light, while different under another. This effect is called metamorphism. It may have happened many times to you, in buying two items, such as a t-shirt and a jacket, thinking: “I bought items that match”. Going out, however, we realise that the jacket and t-shirt have colours that no longer match, and are completely different from what was previously seen. It is very important to offer our customers non-metameric colours and swatches. So, what did we decide to do? To check the samples received by our suppliers with the light chamber, and read the colour objectively, therefore with numbers, through the use of a 0-45° bench spectrophotometer. These numbers can be given to a dye company in order to reproduce the colour to match the customer’s sample as closely as possible.
